Vegan restaurants in London
Written by Gillian McKeith
London has more vegan kitchens than anywhere else in this guide, and frankly most of them are selling you fried food with a halo on it. A burger is a burger whether the patty came from a cow or a laboratory. I am looking for vegetables that still resemble vegetables, pulses cooked properly, grains that have not been boiled to mush, and a kitchen that can make a plate of greens taste like something you actually want.
What follows is the London list I am happy to put my name to. Nobody buys their way onto it. Some of these places will surprise you with how good plain food can be when someone bothers.

I'm Gillian McKeith: television presenter, creator of the global hit show You Are What You Eat, writer, nutritionist, and the editor behind this guide. Every London entry here is chosen and written by me. I judge kitchens on the things that actually matter: real ingredients, honest sourcing, vegetables cooked with care, and food you feel better for eating.
Nothing on this page is a paid placement. Restaurants cannot buy a recommendation, and any listing marked as sponsored is labelled as such. If a kitchen slips, it comes out of the guide.
