Vegetarian restaurants in Edinburgh
Written by Gillian McKeith
Edinburgh is my sort of vegetarian city. It is unshowy, the portions are honest, and there is a long tradition here of feeding people properly rather than photographing the plate. Scottish soil produces marvellous root vegetables, oats, kale and berries, and the good kitchens use them.
My one warning is cheese. Vegetarian too often means a mountain of it, so ask what else the kitchen can do. This page is not for sale.

I'm Gillian McKeith: television presenter, creator of the global hit show You Are What You Eat, writer, nutritionist, and the editor behind this guide. Every Edinburgh entry here is chosen and written by me. I judge kitchens on the things that actually matter: real ingredients, honest sourcing, vegetables cooked with care, and food you feel better for eating.
Nothing on this page is a paid placement. Restaurants cannot buy a recommendation, and any listing marked as sponsored is labelled as such. If a kitchen slips, it comes out of the guide.
